29 / 06 / 2011

On June 28, the competition committee summed up the results of the contest "The best implemented project of the year in the field of investment and construction 2010”. Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology, headed by Professor L.M. Roshal, was recognized as the winner in the category “Objects of culture, medicine, entertainment and sports facilities.” The “Exhibition Pavilion at the Oktyabrskaya Square of the All-Russian Exhibition Center” was the winner in the same category. During the construction of both facilities, the structures of “MonArch” Group of Companies performed the functions of the general contractor. The first stage of the reconstructed buildings of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology was commissioned by “MonArch” Group of Companies in 2006. A year later, a new modern reanimation and surgical building was built and commissioned - a six-story brick-monolithic building that fit into the surrounding architectural environment of the historical center of the city. The total area of the building is over 20 thousand sq.m. The erection of the main building of the research institute was performed on the “up-down” basis: the above- ground part of the building and 4 floors of the underground space were under construction at the same time. The underground part of the building was built just 4 meters from the existing metro line with the use of additional vibration protection of the facility’s structures. The specificity of the medical institution providing emergency assistance to children required the arrangement of a permanent helipad on the roof of the building - a unique structure for the central part of the city, where the flight and basing of aviation equipment are significantly limited. The reconstruction of the buildings was also performed using unique technologies: during the construction of the underground floors, surgeries were performed in the old surgical building - the building was still functioning in full. A special responsibility in the construction and reconstruction of the buildings of the Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology was imposed by the performance of works in the historical part of the city in an extremely limited space with closely located buildings. New exhibition pavilion No. 75 in the Northern part of the All-Russian Exhibition Center was commissioned in September 2009. Today this is one of the largest exhibition buildings in Europe: the total area is 53.5 thousand square meters with a single exhibition space with an arched covering: a span of 72.9 m, a height of 12 m. The free space was organized through the use of large-span trusses and undulating roofs. Panoramic glazing provides additional illumination for exhibitions held here. Mirrored facades that reflect the historical pavilions of VDNKh provide a harmonious connection between the new building and the historical development. The contest "The best implemented project of the year in the field of investment and construction" was created in accordance with the Government Decree in Moscow and has been held annually since 2000. The Complex of Urban Development Policy and Construction of the city of Moscow, the Moscow Investors Association, Moscow City Architecture Committee and the magazine “My Moscow” are the organizers of the competition.
