On November 8, the second international forum “Innovative technologies for sports facilities” ended in Moscow. Olga Petrova, Head of the Engineering Systems Department of “MonArch” Group of Companies, participated in the event with a report. The development of amateur and professional sports and sports infrastructure is one of the priority state tasks. And international events will become a powerful incentive for the development of sports infrastructure in Russia: XXVII World Summer Universiade in Kazan in 2013, XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi and the World Cup 2018 in 10 cities of the Russian Federation. For these events, innovative multifunctional sports complexes and infrastructure facilities should be built to provide the necessary conditions for the stay of athletes and fans in accordance with international requirements. Today, the construction and modernization of sports facilities is impossible without taking into account international standards that require the use of modern technologies, environmental standards and stringent safety requirements. The level of applied design solutions and the quality of implementing the tasks directly depends on the systematic approach to the construction of sports facilities. But, according to Olga Petrova, the Russian experience in the implementation of sports projects is still significantly inferior to the Western one. This is mainly due to the imperfection of the regulatory framework, which does not allow regulating the general approaches to the construction and operation of sports facilities for various purposes. In her speech, Olga Petrova noted that a systemic error is in insufficiently serious attitude to the design stage of the project, which is fraught with defects during construction. “First of all, at the facility design stage, it is necessary to choose a general construction concept, taking into account the elaborated alternative ways of solving the problem”, summarizes Olga Petrova, Head of the engineering systems department of “MonArch” Group of Companies. “The decision in favor of a clear idea at the beginning of implementation and adherence to it throughout the entire period of the project allows us to more accurately determine the planned budget and the timing of putting the facility into operation.”
